K-Laser

Class IV Infrared Laser Therapy

The K-Laser uses specific wavelengths of light (red and near infrared) to create therapeutic effects such as improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling.

The first low power lasers suitable for treating pain became commercially available in the 1970’s and has since been widely used in Europe. There are thousands of published studies showing the clinical effects of laser therapy. Now, after FDA clearance in 2001, it is gaining popularity in the USA.

Serengeti Natural Healing & Chiropractic Center is the ONLY place in the Antelope Valley to get Class IV K-Laser therapy.

Known Effects of Laser Therapy on the Body

Accelerated Tissue Repair & Cell Growth - The K-Laser penetrates deeply into the tissue and increases the energy available to the cell. This allows it to take on nutrients faster and get rid of waste products. This helps tissues repair faster.

Faster Wound Healing - Laser therapy stimulates the production of collagen which allows your tissues to repair.

Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation - Laser therapy reduces the formation of scar tissue.

Anti-Inflammation - Laser therapy increases the diameter of blood vessels and allows for lymphatic drainage. These together help reduce swelling.

Anti-Pain (Analgesic) - Laser therapy helps produce pain killing neurochemicals as it blocks pain signals from the nerves.

Improved Vascular Activity - Laser therapy increases the formation of capillaries in damaged tissues, speeding up healing.

Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points - Laser therapy helps reduce trigger points and stimulates acupuncture points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt? What does it feel like? - There is little or no sensation during treatment—occasionally one feels mild, soothing warmth or tingling. Areas of pain may be sensitive briefly after treatment.

Are there side effects or risks? - Very few side effects have been reported. Occasionally some old injuries or pain syndromes may be aggravated for a few days, as the healing response is more active after treatment.

How long do treatments take? - The typical course of treatment is five to ten minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

How often should I be treated? - Acute conditions may be treated daily, especially if accompanied by significant pain. Chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week tapering to one a week or every other week, with improvement.

How many treatments does it take? - It depends. Some acute conditions may respond in 1-6 treatments. Chronic conditions may require 10 to 15 (or more) treatments. Some conditions may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.

How long before I notice results? - Some patients notice pain reduction after the first visit. Sometimes it takes several visits before noticing improvement. Each treatment is cumulative, and most patients see results after 5 or 6 sessions.
